About Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing
The Hell Mode anime is based on the popular light novel series written by Hamuo and illustrated by Mo. The story follows Yamada Kenichi, a hardcore gamer frustrated by easy games, who stumbles upon an untitled game offering an incomparable challenge. Opting for the “Hell Mode” difficulty, he finds himself reincarnated in a harsh new world as a serf named Allen. In this world, every skill and level requires 100 times more experience, forcing him into an arduous grind to unlock the secrets of his unique Summoner class.
The light novel series, which began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in November 2019, is published by Earth Star Entertainment and has 11 volumes as of March 2025. J-Novel Club licenses both the original light novels and Tetta Enji’s manga adaptation for English publication.
