For the weekend of October 10-12, the film, distributed by Toho, garnered approximately 643 million yen (about US$4.35 million) from 406,000 admissions.
Cumulative Success and National Recognition
Since its release on September 19, 2025, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has amassed an impressive cumulative total of 5.7 billion yen (US$38.56 million) from 3.74 million ticket sales over 25 days. This makes it the fourth-highest-grossing film released in Japan in 2025, surpassing Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The film’s opening weekend alone saw it sell 807,000 tickets, grossing ¥1.251 billion (US$8.46 million), dethroning Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle from its nine-week reign at the top.
International Reach
Beyond Japan, the Chainsaw Man film has also seen significant success. It notably topped the South Korean box office from October 10-12, bringing in $2.4 million from 324,164 admissions. Its cumulative earnings in South Korea reached $13.7 million from 1.8 million admissions since its September 24 release in the territory. A wider global release is scheduled for October 24, 2025, with early screenings for Crunchyroll members on October 22.
“5 Centimeters per Second” Live-Action Makes a Strong Debut
Opening at #2, the live-action film adaptation of Makoto Shinkai’s critically acclaimed 2007 anime film, 5 Centimeters per Second, performed strongly in its opening weekend. The film premiered on October 10, 2025, in 333 theaters across Japan.

In its first three days (October 10-12), the live-action 5 Centimeters per Second earned approximately 402 million yen (US$2.72 million) from 278,000 admissions. Including the national holiday on Monday, its four-day gross surpassed 500 million yen (US$3.38 million) with over 380,000 admissions. While the top two spots were claimed by new and ongoing anime-related features, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle continued its lengthy theatrical run, dropping one spot to third place in its 13th weekend.
