Voice actress Maki Kawase has been announced as a new cast member for the upcoming anime adaptation of “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” (Botan Kamiina, Her Drunken Appearance Is Like a Lily Flower). The television anime series, based on Hey’s yuri manga, is set to premiere in April 2026. The announcement of the anime adaptation was initially made on March 12, 2025. Soigne is the animation studio behind the project, with Takashi Sakuma directing and Shuntarō Tozawa serving as assistant director. Yoko Yonaiyama is handling the series scripts, Kou Yoshinari is designing the characters, and Kana Hashiguchi is composing the music.

The “Kamiina Botan, Yoheru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana” manga, serialized on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross web service since March 2019, is a yuri comedy. The story centers on Botan Kamiina, a 20-year-old university student who experiences alcohol for the first time after meeting Ibuki Tonami, her dorm’s leader. As a newcomer to drinking, Botan becomes bolder and says surprising things when tipsy, leading to a developing friendship and shared exploration of various alcoholic beverages with Ibuki.

Prior to Maki Kawase’s announcement, other key cast members have been revealed. Sayumi Suzushiro is cast as the titular character Botan Kamiina. Yoshino Aoyama voices Ibuki Tonami, Botan’s college drinking buddy. Other characters include Gujou Kanade, Yusa Akane, and Kitamori Yaeka. The original manga has released five volumes as of August 2024, with a sixth volume published in March 2025.
