The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Joumyaku and Mizuki Yoda’s popular manga series, Marriagetoxin, is officially slated to debut in April 2026. The announcement, confirmed in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, reveals that the action-romantic comedy will be brought to life by the renowned Studio Bones Film.
An Assassin’s Unexpected Quest for Love
The Marriagetoxin story centers on Hikaru Gero, a top-tier assassin from the centuries-old Poison Clan, one of the five most powerful families of “Masters.” Despite his deadly skills in the underworld, Gero is entirely clueless about romance and has little experience interacting with women.
His life takes an unexpected turn when his clan pressures him to marry and produce an heir to prevent their bloodline from dissolving. To protect his younger sister, Akari—who is threatened with being forced into an arranged marriage against her wishes—Gero reluctantly embarks on a mission to find a wife.
The Unlikely Alliance: Gero and Kinosaki
In a twist of fate, Gero crosses paths with Mei Kinosaki, a brilliant and experienced marriage swindler who is also Gero’s current assassination target. Rather than eliminate Kinosaki, Gero makes an unexpected request: he asks for Mei’s help in navigating the complex world of dating and finding a suitable partner.
This unlikely duo, an assassin with no romantic prospects and a cunning marriage swindler, team up for what they deem “the world’s toughest mission for love.” The series promises a unique blend of high-stakes action, comedic situations, and heartwarming moments as Gero learns the ropes of romance while still dealing with the dangers of the criminal underworld.
