The Premise of “The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess”
The anime follows Konoha Satou, a young woman who, after an unfortunate accident, is reincarnated into the world of her own embarrassing middle school fantasy novel, “Dark History.” To her dismay, she finds herself as Iana Magnolia, the notorious villainess she meticulously crafted to be utterly despicable.
Now, armed with the knowledge of her own convoluted plot, Iana must navigate the treacherous landscape of her past writings, remembering every minute detail to survive the “death flags” and alter her predetermined, villainous fate. The series blends comedy, fantasy, and romance as Iana attempts to rewrite her character’s destiny into something more peaceful, all while dealing with the unexpected twists and turns of her own forgotten narrative.
The original manga, created by Akiharu Tōka, began serialization in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine in August 2018, and Yen Press is releasing the romantic comedy manga in English. The Japanese anime debuted on October 8 on TV Tokyo and BS11 channels. Hiroaki Sakurai (known for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.) directs the anime at Studio DEEN, with Mitsutaka Hirota overseeing the series scripts. Character designs are by Tomoyo Sawada, and Ryuichi Takada from MONACA composes the music.
Crunchyroll is streaming “The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess” in various regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
