The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Yawora Tsugumi’s “Gōmon Baito-kun no Nichijō” (The Everyday Life of Torture Part-Time Workers) manga is officially slated for a Winter 2026 premiere, with a teaser visual and promotional video already released. Kadokawa announced the main voice cast for the upcoming series, which delves into a unique world where torture and killing are legal, but executed with a “workplace comedy” twist. While earlier reports suggested a January 4 debut, official announcements consistently point to a broader Winter 2026 broadcast window.
Cast Members Bring “Torture Part-Timers” to Life
The core cast bringing the eccentric employees of the Spirytus torture company to life has been unveiled. Fans can look forward to these voice actors taking on the roles:
- Sero will be voiced by Shunichi Toki. Sero is described as a cheerful and easygoing individual, known for being friendly to everyone around him.
- Shiu will be portrayed by Takuma Terashima. Shiu is presented as a laid-back character who nevertheless performs his duties with precision, a “torture world legend”.
- Mike will be voiced by Takuma Nagatsuka. Mike is characterized as a cute, energetic, and surprisingly sharp-tongued new hire during torture sessions.
- Hugh will be played by Yohei Azakami. Hugh is a serious but kind-hearted college student who is new to the job, despite his fear of blood.
These voice actors were introduced alongside a teaser trailer that gives a glimpse into their characters’ personalities and the peculiar workplace environment.
The Darkly Comedic Premise of “Gōmon Baito-kun no Nichijō”
“Gōmon Baito-kun no Nichijō” is set in a society where the acts of murder and torture are not only legal but have become a part of daily life, leading to the establishment of numerous “torture contract companies”. The anime focuses on Spirytus Co., Ltd., one of the leading corporations in this unusual industry, which distinguishes itself by exclusively targeting villains and maintaining a positive work environment for its employees.
The narrative follows Sero, a part-time employee who enjoys his work, alongside his senior colleague Shiu. Their daily routine of tormenting targets is further enlivened by the arrival of new part-timers, Mike and Hugh. The manga and upcoming anime blend dark humor with slice-of-life workplace comedy, showcasing the comfortable and surprisingly homely atmosphere despite the gruesome nature of their tasks. The gap between the relaxed workplace culture and the brutal torture methods is a central theme, attracting many readers to its unique charm.
