Delving into the World of Scum of the Brave
Scum of the Brave, originally a light novel series written by Rocket Shokai and illustrated by Yuya Kusaka, gained further traction with a manga adaptation by Nakashima723. The story unfolds in a mid-21st century Tokyo where the criminal underworld is dominated by “Demon Kings,” individuals who have undergone Ether Enhancement Surgery, granting them terrifying powers.
To combat these formidable foes, “Heroes” emerge as bounty hunters. These Heroes enhance their own ether abilities using a drug called E3, often engaging in legalized killing as part of their dangerous profession. The narrative centers on Yashiro, a freelance Hero known as the “Grim Reaper,” who reluctantly takes a high school girl named Jougamine, a self-proclaimed “apprentice,” under his wing, leading him into a whirlwind of deadly conflicts.

The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio OLM, a studio recognized for its work on popular series such as Pokémon and The Apothecary Diaries. Shinji Ushiro is directing the series, with Yoichi Kato handling the series composition and scripts, Rika Murakami designing the characters, and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the music.
Other previously announced cast members include:
- Ryōta Suzuki as the protagonist, “Shinigami” Yashiro
- Akari Kitō as Aki Jogamine
