Discotek Media has officially announced a new “Project A-ko Perfect Collection 4K” Blu-ray, bringing the classic 1986 anime film to Ultra High Definition with High Dynamic Range (HDR). This release will mark the first time the original Project A-ko film has been made available in 4K resolution.
What to Expect from the 4K Release
The upcoming “Project A-ko Perfect Collection 4K” promises a comprehensive package for fans. The original Project A-ko film will be presented in native 4K with HDR, offering both 16:9 widescreen and the original 4:3 aspect ratios. Discotek has previously utilized 4K scans of the film in anticipation of such a release.
Beyond the enhanced main feature, the collection will also include Project A-ko 2, 3, and 4 on the same disc, presented in 1080p SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), both dubbed and subbed. This “kitchen sink disc,” as described by Discotek, will carry over nearly all extras from previous Blu-ray editions. While a firm release date is yet to be announced, Discotek indicated the release is “coming soon” as it’s already finished, with more details including a potential 4K HDR sample expected closer to its launch.
