The Story of Magic Repo Man: Lent’s Journey for Revenge
The series, originally a web novel by Masakichi, with a manga adaptation illustrated by Shingou Iijima, centers on an adventurer named Lent. Lent possesses a unique “Gift” that allows him to loan vast amounts of magic to his party members, effectively making him an indispensable source of MP. He is a member of the rising party known as the “Skypiercers.”
However, as his companions grow stronger thanks to his abilities, Lent’s own direct combat usefulness is questioned, leading to his unjust expulsion from the party. Furious and feeling betrayed, Lent soon uncovers a hidden potential within his Gift. With the help of an “adorably devious” fairy partner, he embarks on a new quest: to reclaim every last scrap of magic he loaned out from his former party, with interest. This quest for “magic repossession” forms the core of the exciting fantasy adventure.
Manga and Web Novel Background
Masakichi began writing the Magic Repo Man web novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou and Kakuyomu online platforms in June 2021. The manga adaptation, with art by Shingou Iijima, began serialization on Flex Comix’s COMIC Meteor website in April 2023. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the original manga for English publication and plans to release the first volume in September 2026. The fifth volume of the manga is scheduled for release in Japan on November 14, 2025.
Original author Masakichi expressed happiness over the anime adaptation, noting that readers often wished for younger audiences to read the story and even suggested it could be used as high school finance education material due to its unique “magic point” and “repayment” system. He hopes that viewers will enjoy the series while also taking an interest in money and finance.
The announcement of the Magic Repo Man TV anime for 2026 adds another anticipated title to the growing list of fantasy and isekai adaptations for anime fans to look forward to.
