A Glimpse into “Champignon Witch”
The “Champignon Witch” anime is slated to begin broadcasting in January 2026 on TBS and other affiliated networks. The series adapts Tachibana Higuchi’s manga, which has been serialized on Hakusensha’s Manga Park platform since October 2019.
The story centers on Luna, a gentle-hearted black witch who lives in a dark forest. She is feared by townspeople and dubbed the “Mushroom Witch” because poisonous mushrooms sprout wherever she walks or touches, and her breath and skin carry traces of poison. Despite her solitary existence, Luna secretly longs for human connection and warmth. The narrative is described as a magical fantasy blending elements of love, adventure, and emotion.
The production team includes Yōsuke Kubo (known for “Dahlia in Bloom”) as director, Yōko Kakihara (“Blue Box,” “Buddy Daddies”) handling series scripts, and Miki Matsumoto (“Angels of Death,” “Summer Time Rendering”) on character designs. Animation production is being managed by Typhoon Graphics and Qzil.la.
