The upcoming TV anime adaptation of “Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess” has unveiled a new key visual, highlighting its central characters, Bertia and Prince Cecil. Set to premiere in 2026, the series promises a unique romantic comedy told from the perspective of the bored prince observing his eccentric fiancée.
A Glimpse into the Protagonists’ Dynamic
The recently released visual showcases Bertia and Cecil, the core duo of the series. Bertia, with her vibrant personality, is depicted alongside Prince Cecil, who often maintains a more reserved demeanor. This visual emphasizes the contrasting yet captivating dynamic between the self-proclaimed villainess and her exceptionally gifted, albeit often bored, fiancé.
Bertia: The Self-Proclaimed Villainess
Bertia Evil Nochesse is the Chancellor’s daughter and Prince Cecil’s fiancée. Her most defining characteristic is her belief that she has been reincarnated into an otome game as its villainess. Her singular ambition is to meticulously fulfill her role as a villainess to ensure her engagement to Cecil is annulled, which she believes is essential for his happiness and for the game’s “true” ending. However, her attempts at villainy often backfire, leading to unexpected and humorous outcomes. Miyu Tomita has been cast as the voice of Bertia, bringing the energetic character to life.
Prince Cecil: The Observing Fiancé
Crown Prince Cecil Glow Alfostar is described as exceptionally intelligent and initially found life mundane due to everything coming too easily to him. His engagement to Bertia, however, injects an unprecedented level of excitement into his life. Unlike most “otome isekai” stories that focus on the reincarnated heroine’s perspective, this series uniquely chronicles the events through Cecil’s observations of Bertia’s “misadventures.” He is captivated by her antics and attempts to make sense of her game-world logic, even when others dismiss her as delusional. Yusuke Kobayashi lends his voice to Prince Cecil, capturing his elegant yet often amused observations.
The Story’s Unique Premise
The narrative of “Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess” stands out by shifting the typical otome isekai perspective. Instead of following the reincarnated villainess’s internal monologue, the audience experiences the unfolding chaos and charm through Prince Cecil’s eyes. This fresh approach provides a humorous and endearing look at Bertia’s earnest, yet consistently unsuccessful, efforts to play the villain.
