Prepare for a unique blend of romantic comedy and sci-fi as the anime adaptation of Yakinikuteishoku’s manga, “Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?” (Japanese: アンドロイドは経験人数に入りますか??, Android wa Keiken Ninzū ni Hairimasu ka??), is set to premiere on January 9, 2026. This highly anticipated series has unveiled a new promotional video, detailed its cast and staff, and announced exciting OVA plans, promising a dual viewing experience with both a broadcast and an uncensored “Deregula” version.
Unveiling the Plot: An Office Lady, a Messy Life, and a “Romance-Roid”
The anime centers on Akane Tsuda, a 28-year-old office worker who, despite her professional competence and respected demeanor at a robotics manufacturer, lives a chaotic and messy private life. In a moment of drunken loneliness, she orders what she believes to be a maid android to help clean up her apartment. However, what arrives is Nadeshiko, a “Romance-roid” described as a “horny hottie” and, notably, an illegal robot. This unexpected and unconventional cohabitation forms the core of this yuri romantic comedy, exploring the humorous and sometimes awkward situations that arise from their relationship. The manga, by Yakinikuteishoku, has been serialized in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime since July 2021 and is licensed for English release by Seven Seas Entertainment.

A Dual Cast for a Dual Experience: On-Air vs. Deregula Cut
The anime will feature different voice casts for its on-air television broadcast and the uncensored “complete Deregula edition.”
On-Air Version Cast
- Ayaka Shimizu as Akane Tsuda
- Marika Hayase as Nadeshiko
- Komaru Kurikoma (VTuber from Aogiri High School) as Itō-san, Akane’s junior at work. Komaru Kurikoma will also perform the theme song “Android de New Era,” with music by ZincP.
Deregula Cut Cast
For the more explicit “complete Deregula edition,” Ao Senami will voice Akane Tsuda, and Yuu Shiraki will take on the role of Nadeshiko. Komaru Kurikoma will retain her role as Itō-san in both versions. This “Deregula” cut, produced under WWWave Corporation’s Deregula label, is designed to relax censorship, offering a “spicier yuri comedy” experience, while the TV version maintains a “late-night but safe” approach without altering the core storyline.
Premiere and Streaming Information
The “Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?” anime is scheduled to begin its broadcast on January 9, 2026, on TOKYO MX, with subsequent airings on BS11 and major streaming platforms. The uncensored “complete Deregula edition” will be available for streaming exclusively on AnimeFesta. This series marks the fourth anime to be released under WWWave Corporation’s Deregula label.
Beyond the Broadcast: OVA Plans
Fans can look forward to an extended narrative beyond the television broadcast, as a brand-new Episode 9 OVA (Original Video Animation) has been announced. This OVA will continue the story after the main TV series concludes, offering additional content for viewers. The original manga, which currently has six tankōbon volumes released as of May 2025, is also progressing towards its seventh volume and a yuri short story collection.
With its intriguing premise, a talented team, and distinct viewing options, “Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?” is poised to be a notable entry in the Winter 2026 anime season, inviting viewers to ponder the titular question in a hilariously unconventional way.
