The 29th Detective Conan anime film, officially titled Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway (名探偵コナン ハイウェイの堕天使, Highway no Datenshi), has unveiled its first teaser visual and video, confirming an April 10, 2026, release date in Japan. The new promotional materials highlight Assistant Kanagawa Prefecture Inspector Chihaya Hagiwara, who will play a central role in the upcoming movie.
New Visual and Teaser Trailer Revealed
The newly released teaser visual, drawn by original manga creator Gosho Aoyama, prominently features Chihaya Hagiwara on a police motorcycle with Conan Edogawa holding on behind her. The visual is accompanied by the intriguing tagline, “Do not fall off, boy.” Beyond the central duo, the visual also depicts other key characters expected to appear, including high school detective Masumi Sera, Kanagawa Police Inspector Jugo Yokomizo, and, notably, Chihaya’s late younger brother Kenji Hagiwara and his close friend Jinpei Matsuda. This inclusion raises questions about their connection to the film’s central mystery and the meaning behind the “fallen angel” moniker.
A teaser video was also unveiled, building anticipation for the film. An earlier teaser released in August garnered over 300,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter), marking the highest engagement for a teaser post in the series’ history and signaling strong fan excitement for Chihaya’s cinematic debut.
Key Staff and Cast Details
The 29th Detective Conan feature will be directed by Takahiro Hasui, known for his work on Mob Psycho 100 III. Takahiro Okura, who penned the script for Case Closed: The Million-dollar Pentagram, returns to handle the screenplay. Yugo Kanno, recognized for his contributions to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and PSYCHO-PASS, will compose the music for the TMS Entertainment production.

Chihaya Hagiwara’s Theatrical Debut
This film marks the first major theatrical appearance for Chihaya Hagiwara, a member of the Kanagawa Traffic Mobile Unit, whom Ran Mori once affectionately called the “Goddess of the Wind.” Her prominence in the film’s promotional materials suggests a significant storyline centered around her character.
Part of a Thriving Franchise
Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway is set to open on April 10, 2026, and also commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Detective Conan anime. The franchise continues its impressive theatrical run, with the previous 28th film, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, earning 14.4 billion yen (approximately 97.9 million USD) from 10 million ticket sales in Japan. This consistent success underscores the enduring popularity of the Detective Conan series.
