Previously Announced Main Cast and Production Details
The newly revealed cast members join an already established lineup for “The Camphorwood Custodian.” The main cast includes Fumiya Takahashi as Reito Naoi and Yūki Amami as Chifune Yanagisawa. Other previously announced cast members are Asuka Saitō as Yumi Saji, Ryūbi Miyase as Sōki Ōba, and Takao Ōsawa as Toshiaki Saji.
The film is an adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s novel of the same name, which centers on a young man named Reito. After being unjustly fired and committing a crime in retaliation, Reito is offered release under the condition that he becomes the custodian of a camphor tree at Tsukigō shrine, following the order of his late mother’s half-sister, Chifune Yanagisawa. This premise sets the stage for a compelling story filled with mystery and human connection.
The movie is being directed by Tomohiko Ito, known for his work on “Sword Art Online” and “Hello World.” It is a joint production by A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio. Taku Kishimoto is penning the script, while Tsubasa Yamaguchi and Akiko Itagaki are responsible for character designs. Hiroshi Takiguchi serves as the art director, and Yūgo Kanno is composing the film’s music. Aniplex will be distributing the film.
