Mangaka Hiromasa Okujima is set to debut a new manga series, tentatively titled Serial-san, on February 25. The announcement was made in the January 2026 issue of Shueisha’s Grand Jump Mucha magazine, revealing the upcoming serialization.
Anticipation for “Serial-san”
Details surrounding the plot and characters of Serial-san are currently limited, but its launch in Grand Jump Mucha, a magazine known for its diverse range of seinen manga, suggests a mature and engaging narrative. The new series will feature a color opening page, signaling a significant debut for Okujima in the publication. Fans are eagerly anticipating what new themes and storytelling approaches Okujima will bring to this fresh title.
Okujima’s Recent Projects and Adaptations
The launch of Serial-san adds to a busy period for Hiromasa Okujima, who has seen considerable activity surrounding his existing works. His popular “Bloody Love-Comedy” manga, Babanbabanban Vampire, is slated for both a live-action film and a television anime adaptation in 2025. This series, serialized in Akita Shoten’s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion, centers on a 450-year-old vampire named Ranmaru Mori, who works in a public bathhouse and endeavors to protect the virginity of 15-year-old Rihito, the bathhouse owner’s son, whose blood he desires. The announcement of these adaptations coincided with Japan’s Garlic Day on February 29, a playful nod to the vampire theme.
Furthermore, Okujima has announced plans for a sequel series to his Itadaki! Nariagari Meshi manga. The original series follows Kenny, a tough man aiming to be the top dog at Ōmori school, with Meriken as his rival. A new digital edition of the original Itadaki! Nariagari Meshi with updated covers and illustrations is also in the works by Shinchosa.

Hiromasa Okujima has built a diverse portfolio in the manga industry. Beyond Babanbabanban Vampire and Itadaki! Nariagari Meshi, he has contributed to various other titles, often exploring genres such as action, comedy, romance, and slice of life. His work has appeared in magazines from publishers like Akita Shoten and Tokuma Shoten. Okujima is also known for his collaboration with SHOOWA on the boys-love manga Bad Boys, Happy Home (Dōsei Yankee Akamatsu Seven), which has been licensed by Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint.
With the upcoming debut of Serial-san, Hiromasa Okujima continues to expand his creative footprint, promising new narratives for his dedicated readership.
