The announcement also included a special collaboration illustration with Kuzushiro’s other work, “A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace” franchise.

Manga’s Premise: A Heartwarming High School Romance
“The Moon on a Rainy Night” is a yuri manga series written and illustrated by Kuzushiro. The story centers on Saki Kindaichi, a first-year high school student who loves playing the piano. One rainy night, Saki bumps into Kanon Oikawa, a hard-of-hearing girl, on her way to piano lessons. Despite Kanon’s initial distance due to her disability, Saki persistently tries to understand her, leading to a blossoming friendship. As they grow closer, Saki helps Kanon open up, while grappling with developing romantic feelings for her new friend.
The manga began serialization on Kodansha’s Comic Days website in June 2021 and has been collected into ten tankōbon volumes as of September 2025. Kodansha USA has licensed the manga for English release. An anime television series adaptation was initially announced on November 16, 2024.
