Jaku Amano’s action and science fiction manga series, A-DO, is set to conclude with its 12th compiled volume, which is scheduled for release in early 2026. The announcement came on July 18th with the release of the manga’s 11th volume. The series had entered its “final series” in June.
Series Overview and Publication History
A-DO, known in Japanese as Adō (亜童), is written and illustrated by Jaku Amano. The manga began its serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine on May 21, 2019. It is licensed for English release by Kodansha USA Publishing.
The narrative of A-DO unfolds in a Japan that has been transformed by significant immigration, leading to a volatile societal mix and protests from xenophobic extremists. The story centers on Riko, a spirited, job-hopping young woman who intervenes to save a boy named Eito from being hit by a truck during a protest. Their encounter takes an unexpected turn when Eito miraculously stops a sniper’s bullet with plant-like tendrils emerging from his arm, raising questions about his identity and why the army is pursuing him.
