Production Staff and Story Overview
The anime is being produced by Studio Voil with Kaoru Suzuki (known for My Roommate is a Cat) directing the series. Mio Inoue (Slow Start) is in charge of series scripts, while Kana Miyai (The Apothecary Diaries sub character design) handles character designs. Music composition is by Kei Haneoka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Hironori Doi, with Ryō Tanaka as the sound director. Pony Canyon is overseeing music production.
The series adapts Kuzushiro’s manga, which began as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine in February 2019 and later started serialization in Kodansha’s Comic Days app and website in May 2019. Kodansha published the 12th compiled book volume of the manga in April.
The workplace comedy centers on Nana Futami, a novice shōjo manga artist. Despite sometimes suffering from intense delusions she attributes to an “occupational illness,” she strives daily with the support of her female editor, Kaede Satō, and her assistant, Mizuki Hazama. The story explores whether Nana can navigate the stresses of deadlines and manga creation while maintaining a smile.
