Los Angeles-based Web3 anime-styled brand Azuki’s Anime.com platform has announced a partnership with TV Tokyo to stream the anime adaptation of GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class (3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei) for free. The highly anticipated spinoff series is set to premiere on October 6, 2025, with Anime.com hosting weekly watch parties beginning at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET.
This collaboration brings the chaotic school-life comedy to a global audience, allowing fans to enjoy the latest Gintama universe expansion without a subscription.
What is GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class?
GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class is an anime adaptation of Tomohito Ōsaki’s spinoff novel series, which itself is based on Hideaki Sorachi’s iconic Gintama manga. The series reimagines the beloved characters of Gintama in a bizarre alternate universe where they are high school students and teachers.
The central figure is Ginpachi Sakata, a sarcastic and deadpan homeroom teacher leading Class 3-Z at Gintama High School. Expect the signature Gintama style of fourth-wall-breaking comedy, over-the-top antics, and a classroom full of familiar faces causing mayhem.
The Original Gintama Legacy
The original Gintama manga, a science-fiction period-drama comedy, debuted in 2003 and concluded in 2019, boasting over 55 million copies in circulation. It has spawned a massive franchise including 367 anime episodes, three films, OVAs, and live-action adaptations, solidifying its place as a fan favorite. This spinoff continues that legacy, offering a fresh, humorous take on the established universe.
Premiere and Production Details
The GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class anime is set to premiere on TV Tokyo on October 6, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. JST (effectively October 7). Its world premiere was held earlier this year on July 5 at Anime Expo 2025.
The series is produced by BN Pictures, with Natsumi Higashida directing and Makoto Moriwaki (known for Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun) serving as general director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Mitei Mark II are in charge of series composition, and Shinji Takeuchi, who worked on the original Gintama, is the chief animation director. Audio Highs, also from Gintama, is composing the music.
Theme Songs
The promotional video for the anime revealed the theme songs:
- Opening Theme: “Sakurakaze” (Cherry Blossom Wind) by virtual YouTuber Botchi Boromaru.
- Ending Theme: “Underclass HERO” by LONGMAN.
