UK-based anime distributor Anime Limited is expanding its reach by bringing several anime titles to the U.S. home video market. This marks the distributor’s first foray into North American releases, offering fans in the United States a chance to own physical copies of anime that may not have otherwise received a home video release.
Titles Coming to Blu-ray
Anime Limited is releasing five anime on Blu-ray Disc in the United States:
- Vladlove
- EX-ARM
- Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls-
- Woodpecker Detective’s Office
- A Destructive God Sits Next to Me
These releases will be the first time these anime are available on home video in the United States.

A Closer Look at the Anime
Here’s a brief overview of each of the anime titles being released:
Vladlove
Vladlove is an absurdist comedy series directed by Mamoru Oshii, known for his work on Ghost in the Shell. The story revolves around Mitsugu Bamba, a high school girl obsessed with donating blood. One day, she encounters a pale, seemingly foreign girl at a blood bank who starts destroying the place. Mitsugu takes the girl home, leading to a series of bizarre events. The Blu-ray release includes all 12 episodes of the series.
EX-ARM
EX-ARM is a science fiction action series set in 2030. In 2014, Akira Natsume, a high school student who dislikes machines, is involved in an accident. Years later, a police officer named Minami Uezono and her android partner, Alma, encounter an unknown weapon called “EX-ARM” during a trade at Tokyo Harbor. They are attacked and decide to activate another “EX-ARM” unit they have in their possession. The Blu-ray release includes all 12 episodes, art cards, and a bonus poster. However, the anime has been critically panned.
Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls-
Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls- is a sports anime about competitive wall climbing. Kasahara Konomi, a puzzle master, discovers her school’s climbing wall and becomes fascinated by it. She joins the Hanamiya Girls’ High School Climbing Club and competes with her teammates. The series follows their journey as they aim for the top. The Collector’s Edition Blu-ray includes a 52-page art booklet.
Woodpecker Detective’s Office
Woodpecker Detective’s Office is a mystery anime set in Tokyo during the Meiji era. The series follows a young poet named Takuboku Ishikawa, who works as a detective’s assistant to solve strange cases.
A Destructive God Sits Next to Me
A Destructive God Sits Next to Me is a comedy series about Koyuki Seri, a high school student who tries to avoid eccentric people. However, he ends up befriending Kabuto Hanadori, a student who believes he has a destructive god inside him.
Anime Limited: Bringing Anime to Collectors
Anime Limited has a reputation for high-quality, bespoke releases that are highly sought after by fans and collectors. Their collector’s editions often include extras such as books, postcards, and bonus content. Anime Limited also releases anime soundtracks on vinyl.
The company has been expanding its reach in recent years. In 2022, Anime Limited announced their initial slate of releases for North American territories at Anime NYC. In addition to home video releases, they also distribute anime to cinemas.
