Aniplex of America has announced nationwide theatrical screenings for “Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl,” the inaugural story in director Yasuomi Umetsu and studio SHAFT’s original anime series, on November 11 and 13. The screenings will feature both the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and a newly revealed English dub, along with an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette.

Anime enthusiasts across the United States will have the opportunity to experience “Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl” in theaters on two distinct dates: November 11 and November 13. The screenings are a collaboration between Aniplex of America and Fathom Events. Attendees can choose between the original Japanese audio with English subtitles or the newly unveiled English dub. Each screening will also include a special, never-before-seen featurette delving into the creation of the anime. Tickets for these limited engagements are currently on sale.
A Look at “Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl”
“Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl” is the first installment of the “Virgin Punk” original anime film series, which premiered in Japan on June 27, 2025. The project is a collaboration between acclaimed director Yasuomi Umetsu, known for works like KITE and MEZZO FORTE, and animation studio SHAFT, celebrated for titles such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the Monogatari series. Umetsu serves as both director and character designer, with Yuya Takahashi handling the screenplay.
The narrative is set in the year 2099, a future where humanity has triumphed over illness and injury through advanced Medical Android Technology called “Somadea.” However, this technological leap has also fueled a surge in Somadea-related crimes. To combat these offenses, a Bounty Hunter System has been established, allowing registered civilians to eliminate criminals misusing Somadea for a reward. The story follows Ubu Kamigori, a bounty hunter who primarily works alone, as her life takes an unexpected turn when a figure from her past, Mr. Elegance, reappears.
