A new short television anime titled “Anira to Kokora” (Anira and Kokora), centered around anthropomorphized sea otters, is set to debut on October 2, 2025, on Kansai TV in Japan. The production company MMDGP announced the one-minute anime shorts, which aim to highlight the adorable image of sea otters, a species whose captive population in Japan has significantly declined.
A Heartwarming Tale of Sea Otter Brothers
The anime introduces viewers to Anira and Kokora, two sea otter brothers residing in an aquarium. Anira is depicted as the elder brother, possessing a cool demeanor yet harboring a naive side. His younger brother, Kokora, is characterized by his passionate nature and deep adoration for Anira. The narrative intends to foster affection for sea otters among audiences, addressing the diminishing opportunities for interaction with these beloved creatures in Japanese aquariums.
Talented Cast and Crew Bring Otters to Life
The titular sea otter brothers are voiced by a notable cast. Shūta Morishima takes on the role of Anira, while Shugo Nakamura voices Kokora. Both Morishima and Nakamura will also perform the anime’s theme song, “Good Rakko,” a playful title that translates to “Good Otter” and puns on “Good Luck.”
