The manga adaptation of “Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 2,” illustrated by Suzuka, is set to conclude with its 13th volume. The final volume is slated to ship on September 15.
The “Ascendance of a Bookworm” series, known in Japan as Honzuki no Gekokujō – Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen, is a “biblia fantasy” light novel series written by Miya Kazuki. Suzuka has been serializing the manga on TO Books’ Corona EX website.
J-Novel Club releases the manga in English. They describe the first volume of Part 2 as Myne successfully negotiating with the temple to become an apprentice blue shrine maiden, gaining treatment akin to a noble. Her new work begins in the temple’s book room, but she faces challenges due to the temple’s status-based structure and problematic attendants, requiring her to overcome societal obstacles to enjoy her books peacefully.
The original light novel series by Miya Kazuki began on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website in 2013 and concluded its web novel run in 2017. You Shiina illustrates the print edition of the light novels, which ended with its 33rd volume (volume 12 of Part 5) in December 2023. The novel series has over 12 million copies in circulation, including digital versions. A spinoff story, “Hannelore no Kizokuin Gonensei,” launched on the same website in 2017 and is currently ongoing. J-Novel Club also releases both the light novels and the various manga adaptations in English. Suzuka also provided art for the manga adaptation of Part 1, while Ryō Namino draws the Part 3 adaptation, and Hikaru Katsuki draws the Part 4 adaptation.
