The popular multimedia franchise BanG Dream! has officially announced a new television anime series, BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita, centered around its virtual all-girl band, Mugendai Mewtype. The series is slated to premiere in 2026, with the announcement made during Mugendai Mewtype’s 4th live concert, “Unlock the Future,” held on September 7, 2025, at Tachikawa Stage Garden.
Mugendai Mewtype: The Virtual Idols Taking the Stage
Mugendai Mewtype, also known as Yumemita, is a unique addition to the BanG Dream! universe, distinguishing itself as a virtual band composed of five female VTubers. The band made its debut in 2023, and unlike most other bands in the franchise, Mugendai Mewtype operates without a bassist or a drummer among its main lineup. Their members include Nakamachi Arale on vocals, Miyanaga Nonoka on lead guitar, Minetsuki Ritsu on rhythm guitar, Fuji Miyako on keyboard, and Sengoku Yuno as the DJ.
The band’s musical journey began with their debut song, “Mugen My World,” released digitally in November 2023. Following the anime announcement, Mugendai Mewtype also revealed plans for their first album, “Progress Sign,” scheduled for release on December 24 JST, alongside an animated music video for their song “Tuning.” The members also maintain individual YouTube channels, engaging with fans through livestreams and song covers, further blurring the lines between virtual and real entertainment.
Production Details for “BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita”
The upcoming BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita anime will be produced by Nichika Line, a new studio brand established by Sanzigen, a studio known for its work within the BanG Dream! franchise. Music production for the series is credited to PHYZ. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a teaser visual for the anime.
This new anime adds to the growing list of projects within the BanG Dream! multimedia empire, which consistently expands its narrative through various bands and their unique stories.
The Expanding Universe of BanG Dream!
BanG Dream!, also known as Bandori!, is a Japanese music media franchise launched by Bushiroad in January 2015. Starting as a manga, the franchise quickly grew to encompass anime television series, live concerts where voice actresses often play their characters’ instruments, singles, albums, VTubers, and a highly successful mobile rhythm game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!
The franchise’s core concept revolves around all-female bands whose members are also the voice actresses for their characters, performing live concerts in addition to their voice work. Over the years, BanG Dream! has introduced ten distinct bands, each with its own musical style and storyline, with Mugendai Mewtype being the tenth band introduced in 2023.
Recent anime installments include BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!, which aired from June to September 2023, and its sequel, BanG Dream! Ave Mujica, which concluded in March 2025. A further sequel to both It’s MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica has also been announced, along with an anime movie revealed to be in production in August 2025. The addition of BanG Dream! Yume∞Mita underscores the franchise’s ongoing commitment to expanding its musical and animated narratives for its dedicated global fanbase.
