Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially released the main trailer and a new visual for the fourth installment in the “Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199” film series, titled Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha). The film is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 10.
The new trailer offers a glimpse into the escalating conflict and societal divisions as the war intensifies. It notably features appearances by fan-favorite characters such as Desler and Sasha, alongside Ram, the captain of the Legendra ship. Memorable lines from the trailer include Sasha’s “Thank you, uncle, for believing in me” and Ram’s ominous “The Witch of Uralia.”
The “Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199” Saga Continues
“Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199” is a contemporary remake that draws inspiration from both the classic 1980 film Be Forever Yamato and the Space Battleship Yamato III anime series. The overarching project is structured as a seven-part film series, with a total of twenty-six episodes planned for simultaneous theatrical and TV streaming releases.
Previous Installments and Release Schedule
The first film in the series, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), premiered in Japan on July 19, 2024. It saw a strong opening, earning over 58 million yen in its first three days. The second film, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), followed on November 22, 2024, also performing well at the box office with over 64 million yen in its initial three days. The third film, Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid), opened on April 11, 2025, with TRUE performing its ending theme song “Eureka.”
Production and Creative Team
The “Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199” series is animated by Studio Mother. Harutoshi Fukui serves as the general director, in addition to handling series composition and screenwriting. Naomichi Yamato is credited as director. The music is composed by Akira Miyagawa, with his late father and original Space Battleship Yamato composer Hiroshi Miyagawa also credited. Hideki Oka returns as a co-writer on the script, and Nobuteru Yuki reprises his role as character designer.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in select territories under the title “Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.” The series continues the narrative from Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage, which concluded in February 2022.
