A Return to Chibi Chaos in 2026
The announcement of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2 confirms its debut in 2026, promising another dose of the whimsical daily lives of the Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia members in their adorable, super-deformed (SD) forms. This news was accompanied by a teaser visual and an announcement promotional video, generating excitement among the fanbase.
What is Bungo Stray Dogs Wan!?
Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! is a comedy spin-off based on Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa’s original Bungo Stray Dogs manga. Unlike the main series, which is known for its action, mystery, and supernatural elements, Wan! offers a more relaxed, gag-focused take on the characters. The story presents the powerful literary figures, who are usually embroiled in intense battles and complex plots, navigating mundane yet hilarious situations in Yokohama.
The first season, produced by Bones and Nomad, aired from January to March 2021. It brought to life the spin-off manga by Neco Kanai, which has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up magazine since 2015. The series typically features 11-minute episodes, focusing on the comedic aspects of characters like Atsushi Nakajima, Osamu Dazai, Chuuya Nakahara, and others.
Returning Staff and Cast for Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2
The upcoming second season will see the return of much of the original staff and the beloved voice cast. Toshihiro Kikuchi, who directed the first season, is set to return as director. Key animation staff members like Toshihiro Kikuchi, Shinji Yamamoto, and Yukiko Watabe were involved in the first season’s animation. The main cast members from the original Bungo Stray Dogs series also reprised their roles for Wan!, including the voices for Osamu Dazai, Atsushi Nakajima, Kyoka Izumi, Ranpo Edogawa, Chuuya Nakahara, and many others. This continuity ensures that the familiar charm and comedic timing fans enjoyed in the first season will be maintained.
The original Bungo Stray Dogs anime series itself is celebrating its 10th anniversary in April 2026, with various special events and collaborations planned, further cementing the franchise’s enduring popularity.
