The highly anticipated second season of Call of the Night is almost here, promising more nocturnal adventures with Ko and Nazuna. With a confirmed premiere date, a new visual, a teaser trailer, and fresh cast members, fans have plenty to be excited about. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season.

Premiere Date and Where to Watch

Call of the Night Season 2 is set to premiere on July 4, 2025, in Japan on Fuji TV and its affiliates. For international viewers, the season will be streamed exclusively on HIDIVE. HIDIVE will also host a special Season 2 panel event at Anime Expo 2025 on July 5, offering a sneak peek of the second episode and a Q&A session.

New Visual and Trailer

A new key visual has been released, featuring Nazuna and Ko, teasing another round of summer nights. The visual’s tagline reads, “The night isn’t over yet”. A teaser trailer is also available, showcasing Ko’s predicament of needing to fall in love with Nazuna to become a vampire. The trailer also offers glimpses of new characters and ongoing conflicts.

Storyline and What to Expect

Call of the Night follows Ko Yamori, a 14-year-old who becomes dissatisfied with his daily life and starts wandering the streets at night. He meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire who introduces him to the allure of the night. Ko, fascinated by Nazuna, wants to become a vampire himself, but to do so, he must fall in love with her.

Season 2 will likely cover volumes 6-10 of the manga, continuing where season 1 left off. Expect a continuation of the enthralling storyline, marked by unexpected twists and character developments.

Here’s a potential breakdown of what to expect:

  • Ko and Nazuna’s Relationship: Ko is determined to “like” Nazuna, while Nazuna is set on making Ko “fall in love” with her. They spend their nights together, trying to understand what “love” truly means.
  • New Threats: Detective Anko Uguisu is closing in, plotting to eliminate all vampires, including Nazuna.
  • Vampire Weaknesses: Vampires are vulnerable to “anything they were attached to when they were human,” leading them to try and overcome these weaknesses.
  • Nazuna’s Past: Nazuna has no memory of her human life. Season 2 may explore her hidden past and the reasons behind Anko’s vampire-killing mission.

New Cast Member

Rina Sato (known for her role as Mikoto in A Certain Scientific Railgun) joins the cast as the voice of Kiku Hoshimi. Kiku is a centuries-old vampire on a quest to become human again. She is also the woman with whom Ko’s friend Mahiru falls in love.

The confirmed returning cast includes:

  • Sora Amamiya as Nazuna Nanakusa
  • Gen Sato as Ko Yamori
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Akira Asai

Quick Season 1 Recap

In Call of the Night Season 1, Ko Yamori, struggling with insomnia and dissatisfied with his life, stops going to school and starts wandering the streets at night. He meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire who shows him the joys of being a night-walker. Ko wants to become a vampire to escape his mundane existence. However, to become a vampire, Ko must fall in love with Nazuna. The first season explores their developing relationship and Ko’s attempts to understand love while navigating the challenges and dangers of the night. A key plot point is the “one-year rule,” which states that a human has only one year to fall in love with the vampire who bit them to become a vampire themselves.

Final Thoughts

With a blend of romance, supernatural elements, and coming-of-age themes, Call of the Night has captivated audiences. Season 2 promises to delve deeper into the characters’ relationships, explore new conflicts, and reveal more about the mysteries of the night. Be sure to catch the premiere on July 4, 2025, and stream it exclusively on HIDIVE.
