Chie Shinkyū’s manga series, Mikako 72-sai (72-Year-Old Mikako), has officially concluded, with its final chapter published on June 27. The manga, which debuted in November 2020, was featured on Coamix’s Comic Zenon website.
The Story of Mikako 72-sai
Mikako 72-sai tells the story of an elderly woman named Mikako who, after losing her husband, receives a smartphone from her family. She accidentally logs into her late husband’s account, an event that sets the stage for the series’ narrative. The manga falls under the genres of comedy, seinen, and slice of life, often featuring an older protagonist and exploring themes relevant to an older female demographic.
Publication and Digital Availability
Coamix was the original publisher of Mikako 72-sai, serializing it on their Web Comic Zenyon platform. While the manga has concluded in Japan, with three volumes released, an English publisher for the series has not been announced. However, Comikey has been publishing the manga digitally in English. The series gained enough traction to inspire an ongoing anime adaptation.
