The upcoming anime adaptation of Chinjao Musume and Tama Nogami’s manga, “Chuhai Lips: Canned Flavor of Married Women” (Hitozuma no Kuchibiru wa Kan Chūhai no Aji ga Shite), has revealed additional cast members and character videos, heightening anticipation for its July premiere. The anime, produced by WWWave Corporation’s Deregula label, promises a risqué and comedic exploration of relationships between a college student and various married women, all set against the backdrop of Japan’s popular canned chūhai drink.

A Refreshing Premise

“Chuhai Lips” centers on Tsuyoshi, a 22-year-old college student who finds solace and enjoyment in strong canned chūhai. His life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes romantically involved with several married women, leading to complicated and titillating encounters. The series delves into themes of longing, desire, and morality, all while maintaining a comedic tone. The anime aims to capture the essence of the manga’s omnibus format, presenting a series of unique stories involving Tsuyoshi and the women he meets.

New Cast Members Announced

In addition to the previously announced cast, “Chuhai Lips” has revealed the voice actors for several more characters, adding further depth to the ensemble:

  • Tamami Miyazawa: Voiced by Saki Kōsaka in the broadcast edition and Tsuzumi Kinuta in the Deregula edition.
  • Nozomi Kuji: Voiced by Yuri Yamaoka in the broadcast edition and Mitsuko Hachi in the Deregula edition.
  • Anastasia: Voiced by Riko Akechi in the broadcast edition and Izuko Akigure in the Deregula edition.
  • Simphis: Voiced by Miho Morisaki.
  • Sari Kirihara: Voiced by Kayo Ishida.

These new additions join the main cast, which includes:

  • Tsuyoshi: Voiced by Takahide Ishii in the broadcast edition and Men Kaidō in the Deregula edition.
  • Yui Koriyama: Voiced by Shiho Kawaragi in the broadcast edition and Miyu Anno in the Deregula edition.
  • Ai Natsuno: Voiced by Madoka Asahina in the broadcast edition and Kokko Mikazuki in the Deregula edition.
  • Miki Kanzaki: Voiced by Yuka Nukui in the broadcast edition and Momono Mogi in the Deregula edition.

The dual casting for each character in the broadcast and Deregula editions is a unique aspect of the anime, offering viewers different interpretations of the same characters.

Character Videos Offer a Glimpse

To further excite fans, the anime has been releasing character videos that highlight the personalities and relationships of the main characters. These videos provide a sneak peek into the risqué and comedic nature of the series.

  • Yui Koriyama: A character video featuring Yui Koriyama was released, showcasing her fondness for chūhai and her flirtatious interactions with Tsuyoshi. The video captures her bold personality and the intimate bond she shares with the protagonist.

  • Ai Natsuno: Another character video focuses on Ai Natsuno, a gyaru (a Japanese fashion subculture) who adds another layer of complexity to Tsuyoshi’s love life.

These character videos, released weekly, build anticipation and offer a glimpse into the world of “Chuhai Lips.”

Production Details

The anime is directed and written by Hajime Keima at studio raiose. The production team includes:

Deregula Edition

The Deregula edition, streamed exclusively on AnimeFesta in Japan, will feature uncensored and extended scenes, catering to viewers seeking a more explicit experience. This approach allows the anime to explore the manga’s themes with greater freedom. The Deregula label is also producing the anime adaptation of Yakinikuteishoku’s “Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?”

Manga Origins

The original manga by Chinjao Musume and Tama Nogami launched on Kodansha’s YanMaga Web website in February 2021. Kodansha has published the manga in a “Luxurious full-color strong edition,” with three volumes released as of November 2024. The manga has garnered a significant following, with over 1.2 million copies in circulation as of November 2024.
