Netflix’s highly anticipated anime musical fantasy film, Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, has unveiled more of its Japanese and English voice cast, alongside the release of a new, action-packed trailer ahead of its global premiere on January 22, 2026. The film, a modern reimagining of the classic Japanese folktale “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,” promises a dazzling journey through a music-filled virtual realm.
Expanding the Japanese Voice Ensemble
The Japanese cast sees talented voice actors bringing the film’s characters to life. Yūko Natsuyoshi leads as the titular Kaguya, with Anna Nagase voicing Iroha Sakayori, and Saori Hayami taking on the role of Yachiyo Runami. In a December 2025 announcement, veteran voice actress Rie Kugimiya was added to the ensemble, playing the character Fushi. Other notable Japanese cast members include Sarasa Shōji as Inudoge.
Introducing the English Dub Cast
For international audiences, Netflix has also confirmed the English-language dub cast, featuring several well-known voice actors. Jeannie Tirado will voice Kaguya, while Dawn M. Bennett steps into the role of Iroha Sakayori. Ryan Bartley is set to portray Yachiyo Mikado (Yachiyo Runami), with Frankie Kevich providing the singing voice for Yachiyo Mikado. Max Mittelman joins as Akira Mikado.
A Glimpse into the Virtual World with New Trailers
The latest “final trailer/pre-release trailer” for Cosmic Princess Kaguya! offers viewers an exciting look at the film’s blend of action, music, and friendship, building anticipation for its premiere. This follows a main trailer released in December 2025 that showcased key songs and visuals. The trailers highlight the film’s unique setting in “Tsukuyomi,” a dreamlike virtual world where music and emotion are central to the narrative.
The film’s soundtrack is a significant component, featuring original songs from prominent Vocaloid producers. These include “Ex-Otogibanashi” by ryo of Supercell, which serves as the film’s main theme and is performed by Saori Hayami as Yachiyo. Other contributions come from Yuigot, Aqu3ra, HoneyWorks, 40mP, and Kz of Livetune. Kaguya, voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi, performs “Watashiha Watashinokotoga Suki,” an original song composed by HoneyWorks.
