The upcoming “Crayon Shin-chan” movie is heating up with the addition of a popular comedy duo! Eiji Kotoge and Mizuki Nishimura, known as the “Viking” duo, will be lending their voice talents to the 32nd film in the beloved anime series, titled “Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers”. This film marks a significant milestone for the franchise, as it’s the first time the story is set in India.
A “Viking” Invasion of Kasukabe
The announcement was made on the TV Asahi information show “Learn Fun! World Video News”. The show featured footage of Kotoge and Nishimura during their recording session, eliciting laughter from the audience due to their nervous expressions.
Kotoge will be voicing the character of Uhun Ahaan, a local guide who assists Shin-chan and his friends during their Indian adventure. Nishimura will play a part-time worker at a general store.
Voices from the “Viking” Ship
Kotoge expressed his excitement about being part of the “Crayon Shin-chan” universe, stating, “Crayon Shin-chan itself is interesting, and I have seen the movies, so I was simply happy that our voices would be heard in the work”. He further added, “The character I play, Uhun Ahaan, is the local guide for Shin-chan and his friends when they come to India…the director gave me detailed acting instructions and I was able to play the role to the fullest”. Kotoge also highlighted the incorporation of Indian film elements into the visuals and the abundance of funny scenes.
Nishimura shared his personal connection to the series, saying, “Ever since my children were born, I’ve wanted to try being a voice actor for an anime that my children like, so when I received this offer I was incredibly happy”.
A Curry-Flavored Adventure in India
“Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers” is directed by Masakazu Hashimoto, known for his work on previous “Crayon Shin-chan” films like “Honeymoon Hurricane: The Lost Hiroshi” and “Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden”. Hashimoto also co-writes the screenplay with Kimiko Ueno, a long-time collaborator on the film series.

“Crayon Shin-chan”: A Legacy of Laughter and Heart
The “Crayon Shin-chan” series has been entertaining audiences for decades with its humor, heartwarming stories, and relatable characters. The franchise known for releasing annual films since 1993, returned in style with its 32nd feature after a break in 2024.
Guest Voice Actors in “Crayon Shin-chan” Films
The inclusion of guest voice actors is a tradition in “Crayon Shin-chan” films. For example, Rino Sashihara of HKT48 and the comedy duo Nippon Elekitel Union appeared as guest voice artists in “Crayon Shin-chan: My Moving Story! Cactus Large Attack!”. It was the first time the comedy duo Nippon Elekitel Union worked for an animation film as voice actors. In another instance, the comedy duo Oswald voiced characters in “Crayon Shin-chan: Ora-tachi no Kyōryū Nikki”.
Cultural Exploration and Humor
“Crayon Shin-chan” films often explore different cultures, adding a unique flavor to the stories. The Nohara family has previously ventured to countries like Mexico and Australia. While the franchise’s satirical approach doesn’t always resonate with international audiences, it sparks curiosity about how cultural aspects will be approached.
Bo-chan’s Moment to Shine
The 2025 film gives Bo-chan, the quietest member of the Kasukabe Defense Force, a central role, which is a departure from the series’ norm.
Anticipation Builds for “The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers”
With its India setting, the inclusion of the Viking comedy duo, and a storyline that promises both humor and adventure, “Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers” is shaping up to be a must-see for fans of all ages.
