The upcoming anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi’s comedy mystery manga, Detectives These Days Are Crazy!, is generating buzz with its latest character trailer, spotlighting the energetic and quirky co-protagonist, Mashiro. Voiced by Kana Hanazawa, Mashiro is a beautiful high school student with a bizarre physicality and a dream of becoming a great detective. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in July 2025.
A Hilarious Detective Duo
Detectives These Days Are Crazy! follows the unlikely partnership between Keiichiro Nagumo, a once-renowned detective now struggling to keep up with the times, and Mashiro, the enthusiastic high school girl who insists on becoming his assistant. Nagumo, stuck in his old-fashioned ways, is even unfamiliar with smartphones. Mashiro’s modern sensibilities and surprising abilities shake up Nagumo’s world as they solve cases together.
Mashiro: More Than Meets the Eye
The new trailer offers a glimpse into Mashiro’s eccentric personality and unusual skills. She’s not just a pretty face; Mashiro possesses superhuman abilities, possibly gained through rigorous training. She can leap from fifth-story windows without injury and take down entire crime syndicates single-handedly. While her reasons for wanting to work with Nagumo remain shrouded in mystery, it’s hinted that they share a past connection that he doesn’t remember.
