Crunchyroll has announced it will stream the highly anticipated Gnosia TV anime, which premiered on October 12, 2025, in Japan. The anime adaptation, based on the popular social deduction RPG, will be available for streaming to audiences outside of Asia, licensed by Aniplex of America.
The series officially began airing on October 12, 2025, on Tokyo MX and other networks in Japan, with Crunchyroll quickly adding it to its fall 2025 lineup.
What is Gnosia About?
Gnosia is a sci-fi social deduction mystery that unfolds aboard a drifting spaceship. The premise centers on a crew facing a deadly, shapeshifting alien threat known as the “Gnosia,” which infiltrates the human population, pretending to be human to eliminate others one by one.
The crew’s desperate plan for survival involves identifying the most suspicious individual each day and placing them into “cold sleep” in an attempt to eradicate the Gnosia. However, the protagonist, Yuri, finds herself trapped in a time loop, reliving the first day of the crisis repeatedly. To escape this loop, Yuri must uncover the truth behind the Gnosia and the time phenomenon itself.
Gameplay Origins and Unique Narrative
The Gnosia anime is an adaptation of a critically acclaimed single-player visual novel and social deduction role-playing game developed by Petit Depotto. Originally released for the PlayStation Vita in June 2019, it later saw ports to Nintendo Switch (December 2020), Windows (January 2022), and PlayStation and Xbox systems (December 2023). Unlike traditional multiplayer social deduction games, Gnosia uniquely translates the “werewolf” or “Mafia” style gameplay into a single-player narrative experience, where the player engages in discussions with NPCs to identify the alien imposters.
The game’s narrative structure involves “loops” where the player experiences different scenarios, character roles, and outcomes, gradually uncovering an overarching story and character backstories. This non-linear storytelling approach, combined with RPG elements that allow players to improve their character’s stats and influence during discussions, has been praised for its innovative take on the genre.
Production and Staff
The Gnosia anime series is produced by Domerica and directed by Kazuya Ichikawa, known for his work on The World Ends with You The Animation. Jukki Hanada, who worked on Girls Band Cry, is handling the series composition, while Arisa Matsuura is adapting Kotori’s original character designs for the animation. The music is composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa.
The opening theme song is “Bake no Kawa” (化けの皮, Bake no Kawa) by MAISONdes, featuring Kobo Kanaeru, Kasane Teto, Giga & TeddyLoid. The ending theme song, “Loo% Who%,” is performed by Ling Tosite Sigure.
