Anime streaming giant Crunchyroll is set to bring the highly anticipated film Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise to select theaters across the U.S. and Canada for a special one-day English-dubbed screening on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 7 PM local time. This theatrical event is part of Crunchyroll’s “Anime Nights” program, a recurring monthly initiative showcasing anime films.
The Undead Idols Return to the Big Screen
Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise marks the first feature-length installment in the popular Zombie Land Saga franchise, continuing the chaotic and heartwarming story of the undead idol group Franchouchou. The film follows the events of the anime’s second season, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, which aired in 2021. While the dialogue will be presented in English, all musical performances within the film will retain their original Japanese audio with English subtitles, maintaining the series’ unique blend of idol drama and zombie comedy.
The movie, which premiered in Japan on October 24, 2025, sees the beloved zombie idols dealing with an alien invasion, alongside the intriguing prospect of Tae Yamada regaining her intelligence.
A Blend of Comedy, Music, and Heart
The Zombie Land Saga series, animated by studio MAPPA, has garnered a strong following for its unconventional premise: a group of deceased girls resurrected by an eccentric producer, Kotaro Tatsumi, to form an idol group named Franchouchou, aiming to revitalize Japan’s Saga Prefecture. The franchise is known for its outrageous zombie antics, unexpectedly moving moments, and music that transcends the typical idol genre.
The film’s direction is handled by Takeru Sato and Takafumi Ishida, with chief direction by Kōnosuke Uda, and the screenplay by Shigeru Murakoshi, all reprising their roles from the acclaimed TV series. The original story is credited to the Public Information Department, Zombie Desk.
