The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Shizumu Watanabe’s Dead Account manga is officially set to premiere in January 2026. A new promotional video has unveiled key details, including the main staff, additional cast members, and its broadcast slot on TV Asahi and its affiliates.
Production Studio and Key Directors
The anime series is being produced by SynergySP, known for their work on titles such as Girlfriend, Girlfriend. Directing Dead Account is Keiya Saitō, who previously directed Rokudo’s Bad Girls. The series composition, which handles the overall script and story structure, will be managed by Mitsutaka Hirota, recognized for his work on EDENS ZERO. The musical score for the anime will be composed by Keiji Inai.
Additional Staff Members Bolstering Production
Further strengthening the production team are Seika Fujii and Saho Yamane as Art Directors. Haruka Serizawa is serving as the Director of Photography, while Eitaro Ano is handling the Color Design. The editing of the series will be overseen by Yusuke Ueno.
Cast and Characters of Dead Account
The Dead Account anime boasts a talented voice cast bringing its characters to life. Nobuhiko Okamoto stars as the protagonist, Soji Enishiro, an online streamer with a hidden motive. Koki Uchiyama is cast as Kukuru Kasubata, and Fairouz Ai voices Kiyomi Urusugawa. New cast members announced include Natsuki Hanae as Renri Hasumi, Machico as Hiyori Haishima, Ryota Suzuki as Naruhiko Emoto, and Takuya Sato as Yoimaru Azaki.
The Premise: Digital Spirits and Exorcism
Dead Account is based on Shizumu Watanabe’s manga, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in January 2023 before transferring to the Magazine Pocket website in October of the same year. The story centers on Soji Enishiro, a high school dropout who streams as “Aoringo” to earn money for his ailing younger sister. In a world where ghosts and yokai exist within the internet, Soji’s encounter with a digital spirit awakens his own spiritual powers, leading him to Miden Academy, a school that trains exorcists to combat these digital entities. The manga’s main theme explores the generational shift between analog and digital.
Broadcast Information
The Dead Account TV anime will air on TV Asahi and its affiliates as part of the “IMAnimation” programming block. Episodes are scheduled to be broadcast every Saturday at 11:30 p.m. JST, starting in January 2026.
