The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle film has unveiled a new trailer, confirming that acclaimed artists Aimer and LiSA will contribute the theme songs for the first installment of the trilogy. This announcement follows the airing of the full trailer in Japan after a re-broadcast of Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train on Fuji TV.
A Musical Reunion for a Climactic Arc
Both Aimer and LiSA are no strangers to the Demon Slayer universe, having previously lent their powerful vocals to some of the franchise’s most iconic musical moments. Their return signifies a powerful collaboration for what promises to be the most climactic chapter of the anime adaptation.
LiSA, a core part of the Demon Slayer experience since its inception, gained widespread recognition for performing “Gurenge,” the opening theme for the first season, which became a cultural phenomenon in 2019. She also delivered “From the Edge,” the ending theme for the same season, in collaboration with FictionJunction. Her contribution continued with the award-winning theme song “Homura” for the 2020 film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, and subsequently, “Akeboshi” and “Shirogane” for the TV adaptation of the Mugen Train Arc.
Aimer made her impactful debut in the Demon Slayer franchise with “Zankyou Sanka,” the opening theme for the Entertainment District Arc, and “Asa ga Kuru” for the ending theme of the same arc. Her songs resonated deeply with fans, capturing the intensity and emotional depth of the series.
For the Infinity Castle film, Aimer will perform “Taiyō ga Noboranai Sekai” (“A World Where the Sun Never Rises”), while LiSA will perform “Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake” (“Shine in the Cruel Night”). Both tracks are scheduled to be available on global streaming platforms starting July 18.
The Infinity Castle Arc: A Trilogy of Final Battles
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle film marks the beginning of a three-part movie saga that will adapt the final, climactic Infinity Castle storyline from Koyoharu Gotouge’s bestselling manga. Unlike previous compilations, this trilogy is a feature-length adaptation designed to capture the arc’s intricate content and dramatic pacing, much like the successful Mugen Train film.
The story picks up directly after the events of the Hashira Training Arc. As the Demon Slayer Corps and Hashira engage in rigorous training in preparation for the ultimate confrontation with the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji, Muzan makes a decisive move, appearing at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. This attack plunges Tanjiro Kamado and the Hashira into a mysterious, ever-shifting dimension known as the Infinity Castle, which serves as the demons’ stronghold. Within this labyrinthine structure, governed by warped gravity, the final, desperate battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan’s formidable forces will ignite. The trilogy is expected to delve deeply into character arcs, pivotal battles, and long-awaited revelations, bringing the saga to its definitive conclusion.
The first film, titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai (The Return of Akaza), will open in Japan on July 18, playing on a record 443 screens, including IMAX screenings. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will handle the international theatrical release, beginning on August 12 in Southeast Asia and expanding to over 70 countries. Fans in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom can expect to see the film starting September 12, with both Japanese audio and English subtitles, as well as an English dub available.
The film is directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by ufotable, with ufotable also credited for the screenplay, ensuring continuity with the high-quality animation and storytelling fans have come to expect from the Demon Slayer series.
