Anime fans in North America are in for a treat this December as TMS Entertainment announced that three more Detective Conan films, including the latest hit Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, will stream for free on its “Anime! on TMS” YouTube channel as part of its “Cinema Saturdays” campaign. The films will premiere weekly on Saturdays at 10:00 p.m. EST, offering a unique opportunity to catch fan-favorite mysteries.
December’s “Cinema Saturdays” Lineup
The “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” initiative is a special promotion leading up to the franchise’s 30th anniversary in January 2026. Each film streams for a limited seven-day window after its premiere.
The schedule for the remaining December screenings is as follows:
- December 13: Detective Conan: Captured in Her Eyes (Movie 4)
- December 20: Detective Conan: Strategy Above the Depths (Movie 9)
- December 27: Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (Movie 26)
Beyond the feature films, TMS Entertainment will also stream the two-part episode “The Diplomat Murder Case” on December 12, followed by a “Winter episode showcase” on December 19, featuring episodes 42 and 46.
Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine Highlights
Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (Movie 26) is the latest installment in the long-running franchise and has already made waves, becoming the first Detective Conan film to surpass 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office. The film had its U.S. premiere at Anime Expo on July 5, 2025. It was also made available digitally for purchase on platforms like Amazon, Apple, and YouTube in August 2025.
Expanding Detective Conan’s Reach in North America
The “Cinema Saturdays” campaign is part of a broader effort by TMS Entertainment to make Detective Conan content more accessible to North American audiences. This initiative complements the recent release of a specially curated selection of Detective Conan anime episodes on Crunchyroll and Netflix, which began streaming on July 3, 2025. These episodes are available in both Japanese with English subtitles and a new English dub, marking the first time the new dub appeared on Crunchyroll.
The curated selection, titled “Conan vs. The Black Organization,” focuses on episodes featuring the titular antagonists and includes some content previously unavailable in the U.S.. This strategic rollout ensures both new and long-time fans can experience key moments of the iconic series.
The Enduring Legacy of Detective Conan
Gōshō Aoyama’s Detective Conan manga first launched in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine in 1994. The series has since grown into a massive franchise, encompassing a television anime that premiered in January 1996 and an ongoing series of theatrical films. Known as Case Closed in some English-speaking regions, the manga is recognized as the 5th best-selling manga series worldwide. The continued release of films and streaming availability underscores the enduring popularity and cultural impact of the young detective’s thrilling mysteries.
