Discotek Media, a prominent North American anime distributor, has revealed a substantial new slate of acquisitions during its Industry Extravaganza panel at Otakon 2025 on August 9, 2025. The announcements captivated fans with highly anticipated titles such as Naoki Urasawa’s psychological thriller Monster, the classic sports anime Shin Aim for the Ace, and the sci-fi mecha series Zegapain, alongside numerous other notable additions.

Monster
One of the most significant announcements is the licensing of Monster, the critically acclaimed 2004 anime adaptation of Naoki Urasawa’s manga. The 74-episode series follows Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese surgeon in Germany whose life is upended after he becomes involved with a former patient, Johan Liebert, a nihilistic sociopath and serial killer. Discotek Media plans to release the series on Blu-ray. This marks a highly anticipated release for fans, as previous North American home video releases were incomplete.
Shin Aim for the Ace!
Anime sports fans can rejoice with the acquisition of Shin Aim for the Ace!, the 1978 remake of the original Aim for the Ace! series. All 24 episodes of this beloved tennis drama will be subtitled and released in the United States for the first time. Discotek previously licensed and released the 1973 original series on Blu-ray.
Zegapain
The 2006 sci-fi mecha anime series Zegapain is also joining Discotek’s lineup. The release will feature all 26 episodes on Blu-ray, complete with both Japanese audio and the English dub from Elastic Media’s earlier release. Additionally, the collection will include the compilation film Zegapain ADP (2016) and the 2024 sequel film Zegapain STA, providing a comprehensive package for fans of the series.

The Golden Digimentals, Digimon Tamers: Battle of Adventurers, and Digimon Tamers: Runaway Locomon.
Golden Boy
The raunchy and hilarious OVA series Golden Boy is set for a new Blu-ray release. Known for its comedic escapades and unique art style, this release will be welcomed by fans of classic comedy anime.
Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman

The action-packed shonen series Flame of Recca is making its way to Discotek’s catalog. The release will contain all 42 episodes, presented with Japanese audio and English subtitles, along with the classic English dub produced by Ocean Studios.
