Dusk Beyond the End of the World is set 200 years in the future, where society has undergone profound changes. The narrative centers on Akira Himegami, a high school student who awakens from a long cryogenic sleep to find a world ravaged by war. In this new era, an organization named OWEL governs society, and the traditional concept of marriage has been replaced by a system called “Elsie.”
Akira’s journey begins when he encounters an android named Yugure, who bears a striking resemblance to his lost love, Towasa. To Akira’s surprise, Yugure proposes marriage. Confused yet hopeful, Akira agrees to travel with Yugure, seeking to uncover the truth and find out if the real Towasa is still alive somewhere in this transformed world. The series promises to explore evolving forms of love, including unique expressions between humans and androids, set against a backdrop where traditional societal norms have been challenged by technological advancements and issues of gender and race.

For international viewers, HIDIVE has acquired exclusive streaming rights for Dusk Beyond the End of the World as part of its Fall 2025 simulcast season. Ahead of its broadcast debut, HIDIVE hosted the world premiere of the anime’s first two episodes on Sunday, August 24, at Anime NYC 2025.
