A Glimpse into the Anime’s Premise and Production
Dusk Beyond the End of the World is an original television anime series produced by P.A.WORKS, celebrating its 25th anniversary. The story centers on Akira Himegami, a high school student who awakens 200 years in the future after being in cold sleep. He finds a world reshaped by war, now governed by a new organization called OWEL, where a system named “Elsie” has replaced traditional marriage. Akira encounters Yugure, an android strikingly similar to his girlfriend, Towasa, who proposes marriage to him. Believing Towasa still exists, Akira embarks on a journey with Yugure to find her.
Naokatsu Tsuda (known for directing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders) is at the helm as director and also handles the series scripts. Midori Tayama is credited with the original character designs, which are then adapted for animation by Yoshiko Saitō. Masahiro Tokuda is composing the music for the series.
