Anime Background and Story
The original Even Given the Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually the Strongest light novel series was created by Ibarakino with illustrations by Yu Hitaki. The anime adaptation, directed by Kenta Onishi at studio Okuruto Noboru, premiered on January 9, 2025. Toko Machida handled the series composition, with Sayuri Sakimoto designing the characters, and Satoshi Hono and Kaori Nakano composing the music.
The story centers on Ein, who is born into a world where “jobs” are god-given. Unfortunately for Ein, his assigned job is “Appraiser,” widely considered the weakest and most unfortunate class, granting him only the ability to appraise items. Initially treated cruelly and scorned by his peers, Ein’s life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters Yuri, the spirit of the World Tree, and her protector, Ursula. With a gift called the Spirit Eye from Yuri and training from Ursula, Ein begins to unlock true strength from his seemingly “worthless” class. He embarks on a journey to help Yuri meet her World Tree sisters and faces numerous challenges with his newfound courage and inherent kindness.
The anime’s opening theme song is “Crescendo” by Asterism, and the ending theme song is “Rock wa Shinanai” by 22/7. Crunchyroll streams the series, and Muse Communication has licensed it in Southeast Asia. Both the light novel and manga adaptations of the series are licensed in English by Kodansha USA.
