The manga adaptation of Saki Ichibu’s light novel series, “‘Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke’,” has commenced a hiatus. The pause in serialization is due to the manga’s creator, Ushio Shirotori, requiring time for recovery following the birth of her second child. Shirotori has expressed an expectation to resume work by winter.
Background of the Series
“Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke” is a fantasy romance series that began its manga serialization on Mag Garden’s Mag Comi website in September 2020. Tokyopop handles the English publication of the manga. The story follows Claire Martino, who, after losing everything due to her half-sister’s machinations and being scorned as a villainess, embarks on a journey to discover her true self. The narrative uniquely intertwines with the plot of an otome game titled “NEW START ♡ ETERNAL LOVE,” specifically its most challenging route.
The original light novel series, written by Saki Ichibu, was first serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in March 2020, concluding in May of the same year. Mag Garden published the first print volume of the light novel in December 2020, with illustrations by Nemusuke. J-Novel Club is responsible for the English release of the novels.
Previous Hiatus and Current Status
While the current hiatus is for the creator’s recovery, the manga has experienced pauses in serialization previously, leading to some discussion among fans regarding its status. However, the current reason for the hiatus has been officially announced by Ushio Shirotori via her X/Twitter account. Fans can anticipate the manga’s return once the creator has fully recovered, with a tentative return timeframe set for winter. The seventh compiled book volume of the manga was published on April 15, and Tokyopop released the sixth English volume on June 10.
