The manga adaptation of Saki Ichibu’s Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke has entered a hiatus, as announced by its creator, Ushio Shirotori. The break in serialization is due to Shirotori’s recovery following the birth of her second child. The artist anticipates returning to the series by winter.
This is not the first time the manga, which is published in English by Tokyopop, has experienced pauses in its release. Reports indicate that the series has a history of going “on and off” hiatuses, often attributed to the author’s health. For instance, there was a significant gap in releases between September 2022 and November 2023. Despite these interruptions, the manga is officially ongoing, albeit with a slower release schedule. The original web novel and light novel series, which the manga adapts, are already completed.
The manga, which launched on Mag Garden’s Mag Comi website in September 2020, follows the story of Claire Martino. Claire, a duke’s daughter, loses everything after being betrayed by her half-sister and scorned as a villainess. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery, only to realize her life mirrors the plot of an otome game. As of April 2025, the manga had released its seventh compiled book volume in Japan, with Tokyopop publishing the sixth English volume in June.
