Season 3 of Fire Force is in full swing, and Episode 10 has definitely set the stage for the anime’s endgame. The Great Cataclysm is looming, and the characters are grappling with their roles in preventing or bringing it about. Let’s dive into what happened in “Advent” and what it means for the future of Company 8 and the world.
White-Clad’s Grand Scheme
Episode 10 gives viewers a deeper look into the White-Clad’s perspective and how they’ve manipulated events to align with their goals. Each member has been carefully selected to fulfill a specific role in the grand scheme. Haumea, the Second Pillar, uses her ability to communicate with the Evangelist and read minds to guide the White-Clad toward initiating another Great Cataclysm.
Sumire demonstrates her powers by creating large earthquakes, and a massive pillar rises from the sea, frightening the people near the port. The White-Clad are making their final preparations, and the sense of urgency is palpable.
Sho’s Inner Conflict
Sho Kusakabe, Shinra’s younger brother, is experiencing a significant internal conflict. After their Adolla Link in the previous episode, Sho is haunted by hazy memories of his past and the warmth he felt when he briefly connected with Shinra. This newfound awareness clashes with his duties to the White-Clad and the Evangelist.
Driven by an irresistible urge to reunite with his brother, Sho decides to leave the White-Clad’s hideout. He encounters Arrow, whom he threatens to guide him outside. Haumea and the other White-Clad members are aware of Sho’s departure but remain unconcerned, confident that the assembled Pillars will ensure the Cataclysm cannot be stopped.
Company 8’s Preparations
While the White-Clad finalize their Cataclysm preparations, Company 8 is in emergency rendezvous, urgently discussing how to prevent the impending disaster. The episode highlights a foreboding image of Amaterasu, emphasizing its crucial function in the White-Clad’s plan. The New Tokyo Empire’s dependence on Amaterasu is likely to be its downfall.
Captain Akitaru Obi attempts to rally the leaders of other Fire Force Companies to join their cause. The crew must take stock of their situation in their war against the White-Clad. Obi needs to scrounge up whatever resources he can from his allies in Companies 2 and 4. The urgency of the final arc has to feel desperate; The episode establishes that tone well enough.
Humor and Exposition
Despite the serious nature of the situation, Episode 10 incorporates humor. Hibana flirts with Shinra, and Iris jokingly tries to pair every man with Hibana. Scop the Talking Mole returns, launching into a long, irrelevant story before revealing important information about the Great Cataclysm. Scop discloses that everything needed for the Cataclysm is in place, and the world and Adolla will soon merge.

Final Thoughts
“Advent” is an exposition-heavy episode, but it is necessary to set the stage for the final act of Fire Force. The episode is entertaining, but hopefully, the series will not delay in delivering the emotional substance that Shinra and Sho’s reunion could provide.
Fire Force Season 3 is shaping up to be an explosive conclusion to the series, with the Great Cataclysm drawing near and the characters facing difficult choices.
