Kenjirō Hata’s popular romantic comedy manga, Fly Me to the Moon (also known as Tonikaku Kawaii), has officially returned from its recent hiatus. The manga resumed serialization with a new chapter published in the 30th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
The series had previously gone on a seven-week break, with its hiatus beginning on May 7, 2025. While the initial announcement of this particular pause did not specify a return date, fans of Nasa and Tsukasa’s charming love story can now continue following their journey.
Fly Me to the Moon began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in February 2018. The manga follows the unique relationship between teenage genius Nasa Yuzaki and his mysterious wife, Tsukasa, who he meets after a traffic accident. The series is known for its wholesome romance, gentle humor, and subtle hints of a deeper backstory concerning Tsukasa.
This is not the first time the series has taken a break. In October 2023, the manga went on a four-week hiatus, which author Kenjirō Hata humorously attributed to being “shocked” by a chapter of another popular manga, Jujutsu Kaisen.
The manga has also inspired a successful anime adaptation, TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, which premiered in October 2020. The anime has since released a second season in April 2023 and a four-episode original net animation (ONA) titled TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You ~High School Days~ in July 2023. As of June 18, 2025, 32 compiled book volumes of the manga have been published by Shogakukan in Japan. Viz Media licenses the manga for English release in North America.
