Kenjiro Hata’s popular manga series, Fly Me to the Moon (Tonikaku Kawaii), is going on hiatus. Here’s what fans need to know about the break and the series’ journey so far.
Hiatus Announcement
The combined 22nd and 23rd issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed on April 23, 2025, that Fly Me to the Moon will go on hiatus starting in the magazine’s next issue, which was released on May 7, 2025. As of the announcement, there was no confirmed date of return for the series.
Previous Hiatus
This isn’t the first time Fly Me to the Moon has taken a break. In October 2023, Hata announced a brief hiatus due to his shock over chapter 236 of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen. The death of a fan-favorite character in Jujutsu Kaisen was so impactful that Hata needed time to recover before continuing his work.
