The upcoming anime adaptation of Shinichiro Nariie’s popular slice-of-life manga, See You Tomorrow at the Food Court, has just unveiled its opening theme song in a brand-new promotional video. Fans can now get a first taste of the series’ musical flavor with “Mikansei ni Matataite” by Oisicle Melonpan.

A Sweet Slice of Life is Coming Soon

The anime is slated to premiere in July 2025 and will consist of 6 episodes. For those eager to get an early look, an advanced screening event is scheduled for June 13 at the Animate Ikebukuro main store.

What’s See You Tomorrow at the Food Court About?

See You Tomorrow at the Food Court is a comedy-drama, slice-of-life manga series written and illustrated by Shinichiro Nariie. It initially gained popularity as a webcomic on the author’s Twitter account in October 2019 before being serialized on Kadokawa Shoten’s Comic Newtype website starting March 2020. Yen Press has licensed the series for English publication.

The story revolves around two high school girls, Wada and Yamamoto, who appear to be polar opposites to their classmates. Wada is seen as a quiet, refined rich girl, while Yamamoto is perceived as an intimidating, rebellious fashionista. However, their classmates don’t know their secret selves. Wada is secretly addicted to mobile games, engaging in a love-hate relationship with a 2D character. Yamamoto, on the other hand, is fascinated by urban legends and is a devoted fan of a particular YouTuber.

Their biggest secret is that they meet every day after school at the food court. It’s here that they can truly be themselves, rant about their day, share their passions, and support each other. The series explores their unlikely friendship and the everyday moments that make their bond special.

Production Team

The anime adaptation is being brought to life by a talented team at Atelier Pontdarc. Kazuomi Koga, known for directing Rent-a-Girlfriend, is at the helm as the director. Jukki Hanada, who has worked on The Dangers in My Heart and Sound! Euphonium, is handling the series composition. Kyuta Sakai, the character designer for Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, is in charge of character designs and also serves as the chief animation director. The music is composed by Kana Utatane, known for Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!. Jin Akutagawa is the sound director.

Meet the Characters

The voice cast includes:

  • Hiyori Miyazaki as Wada
  • Yoshino Aoyama as Yamamoto
  • Saori Hayami as Saito, Wada’s classmate who takes her time putting on makeup
  • Jun Fukuyama as Duke Abel, a character from Wada’s social game of choice

Manga

The See You Tomorrow at the Food Court manga began as a webcomic in October 2019 and was later serialized on Comic Newtype in March 2020. The first part of the series concluded in January 2021, with the second part starting in September 2022. Kadokawa Shoten has released the manga in tankōbon volumes, with two volumes available as of March 2025. The second volume is titled See You Tomorrow At The Food Court Season 2.
