The acclaimed manga series Unmei no Makimodo Shi – All Great Achievements Require Time, also known as Fate Rewinder, by Fūta Kimura is officially receiving a television anime adaptation. The announcement was made with the opening of an official website, which also unveiled a super teaser visual and promotional video for the upcoming series.
A New Chapter for ‘Fate Rewinder’
This television anime marks a significant new chapter for the popular manga. Prior to this, a net anime adaptation of the series debuted on YouTube in the spring of 2022. The upcoming TV adaptation will be produced by Bones Film, a studio renowned for its dynamic animation work. Directing the series is Rie Matsumoto, an acclaimed director known for her work on titles such as Blood Blockade Battlefront, the Heartcatch Precure! Hana no Miyako de Fashion Show…Desu ka!? film, and Kyousougiga. Story Inc. will be in charge of the production.
The World of ‘Unmei no Makimodo Shi’
Fūta Kimura’s Unmei no Makimodo Shi – All Great Achievements Require Time initially launched as a one-shot in January 2022, before beginning its monthly serialization in Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics magazine in February 2022. As of April 2025, the manga has been compiled into nine tankōbon volumes, with the tenth volume slated for release on July 28, 2025. Its blend of science fiction, adventure, and action-comedy elements has resonated with readers, leading to its nomination for the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023.
The story revolves around a young protagonist named Chrono, whose right eye possesses a unique power called “Rewinder,” enabling him to rewind time. Chrono is an integral member of a specialized time police unit dedicated to preventing “dark destinies” by altering past events and changing history. His missions are diverse, encompassing everything from romantic entanglements and sports challenges to thwarting terrorist attacks. Chrono’s journey into this clandestine organization follows a personal tragedy that led to his induction into the Space-Time Police Special Forces Unit as its new Rewinder, where he trains under the mentorship of Shirai, a former Special Grade Rewinder. The narrative delves into the complexities of time manipulation and the high stakes involved in protecting the timeline.
