What is Gachiakuta About?
Gachiakuta is a battle action series set in a dystopian world. The story revolves around Rudo, an orphan living in the slums of a floating town where the wealthy residents live in luxury while discarding their waste into a massive abyss known as “The Pit.” Those deemed unworthy, including criminals and the poor, are also cast into this abyss.
Rudo, who makes ends meet by scavenging, is one day falsely accused of murder and thrown into the Pit. There, he discovers a terrifying landscape filled with monsters born from the discarded trash. To survive and seek revenge against those who wronged him, Rudo must master a newfound power and join the “Cleaners,” a group that battles the trash beasts lurking in the Pit.
Themes and Inspirations
The series delves into themes of conformity, authority, and discrimination. Kei Urana, the author, drew inspiration from childhood experiences, particularly the idea that objects possess “Anima,” or a soul, developed from personal connections and feelings. This concept is central to the story, as characters explore their relationships with “Vital Instruments,” weapons imbued with Anima.
