Toei Animation has released the main trailer and a new key visual for the first Girls Band Cry compilation film, titled Seishun Kyousou Kyoku (Youth Runaway Melody). The film is slated to open in Japan on October 3, 2025, with the second part, Naa, Mirai. (Hey, Future.), following on November 14, 2025.
The newly released trailer showcases the five members of the band Togenashi Togeari—Nina, Momoka, Subaru, Tomo, and Rupa—as they meet, clash, and ultimately move forward through their music. The visuals emphasize their contrasting perspectives and pasts, highlighting their journey as they gradually form a cohesive band despite the challenges. The compilation films will reconstruct the original TV anime, which aired from April to June 2024, and will include new scenes.
Girls Band Cry tells the story of Nina Iseri, a high school dropout who moves to Tokyo. There, she forms the band Togenashi Togeari with Momoka Kawaragi, Subaru Awa, Tomo Ebizuka, and Rupa, growing both individually and as a group through their musical endeavors. The project is notable for linking the in-story band with a real-life band composed of voice actors who had no prior professional experience.
The compilation films are directed by Kazuo Sakai, with Jukki Hanada handling series composition and scriptwriting, and Nari Teshima designing the characters. Kenji Tamai is the composer, and Jaehoon Jung and Daiki Nakazawa are serving as co-CG directors. Crunchyroll currently streams the Girls Band Cry anime in various regions.
